the whole promo exchange from that feud was kinda weird
before this MJF did a promo on collision about how Ospreay is only liked because he's a flippy gymnast and the newest Tony toy, and also said that he only cares about star ratings and can't draw TV ratings

He's been under contract with AEW all these years. At what point would they even offer him anything? That's contract tampering and TK is against that. And let's be honest IF WWE had offered him a deal he would've taken it instantly. He was a young E drone once.

MJF signed a contract extension when he got that pay bump. Believing anything else is mark behaviour. The bidding war was never going to happen, at least not in 2024.

That said, MJF got fully exposed as a limited shitter during his championship run, so any 'bidding war' got hampered by that. I'm sure WWE would still hire him, but his value has dropped since 2022.
