I like him being a "mentor" type character who interacts with the talent though. It just gets silly when I'm supposed to buy his accent and badge gimmick as an actual authority that makes matches. It worked better when there was still a Scott D'amore type in the wings that could really "put his foot down"
I can't take santino putting his foot down seriously at this point. Dude needs to have his kid kidnapped and break the ninja's neck or something to give him some cred.
