His career isn't as big as it could have been because he got his push when he was already pretty old.
So he was always out with injuries. When he came back from his tricep injury in 2006, he was fucking horrible and it took a while before he was able to get comfortable, but by that point, Vince had moved completely to Cena as the face.

But his feud with Taker was great, his feud with Cena was good, his last run in 2014 was pretty good if you just look at his matches.

Not even sort of. Dude's far, far too humble. Cena, Orton, Triple H, Undertaker, Edge, Rey, Big Show, Kane, JBL, etc. The Ruthless Aggression era was fucking stacked and Batista was on the top of the card above them all at one point or another. He main evented Mania, he's won multiple Rumbles. He's done more than enough to be worthy of being called a top star in wrestling

He was older than HHH when he beat him and very inury prone to boot, so it makes sense that Vince chose Cena over him. But I don't know what else Batista could've achieved, he had already done it all when he left in 2010. It sucks that he only had one big WrestleMania though (maybe two if you count 23 with Taker). Like there's no reason for 2008 Batista to be wrestling Umaga on the undercard.
