>>15884291We both have our own stockpile of anecdotes, and they're ultimately worthless. All I can do is point to the scoreboard and reiterate what I've already very carefully said multiple times, that you keep imagining is some kind of goalpost move because it suits your narrative - not because it is actually the case. I'm being uncharacteristically divisive right now because frankly I've had enough of AEW fan's shit and it's become grating. As we get closer to the end of the year and it becomes clear AEW's deal is getting worse, not better, we're seeing much more lashing out on all forms of media and it's become quite annoying.
WWE is not the reason AEW sucks dick and has stalled, Tony Khan is. He's the one who repeatedly went from debut to debut to debut to constantly spike the ratings - and when the debuts ran dry, he went to announcement after announcement after announcement. Now that he's all out of gimmicks, AEW's ratings are steadily declining and it's his own fault. He's a control freak who only recently has given more control to other parties but it's still not enough. If he isn't mature or respected enough to say it, then someone in that room needs to say Fuck You Jericho, you're not going 20 minutes with Orange Cassidy. Predictably, the match fucking tanked ratings and got an absolute shit review even on the homer website Cagematch.
Things will not be turned around by arguing with other wrestling fans about their perceptions and starting arguments over their word choices. We are at a point in time where it's incredibly difficult to mint new wrestling fans - so the best most promotions can hope for is to capture lapsed fans from the 90s and 00s.Unless and until AEW learns to create new stars - not Meltzer stars, but wrestlers that actually draw and DEMAND to be used heavily - they will continue to be stuck in a rut. MJF and others being allowed months off to go film movies and other bullshit is a fucking joke and I hope he was docked 6-7 figures for it
