>>15879024>My only issue is wrestling as a whole is becoming homogenized. There's no more cultural flavor because everyone, everywhere is doing the same thing. Because they want the reactions that Ricochet and Ospreay got.I watch a wide variety of modern wrestling over a number of companies. WWE. AEW. New Japan. Stardom. Noah. All Japan. Marigold. TJPW. No, I don't follow them all at once or in depth but I tune in here and there to see what's going on depending on my mood.
Wrestling is in no danger of becoming homogenized. Hell, even in Japan it's vastly different depending on the company you're watching. And WWE and AEW are different on top of that, and we're not even getting into Lucha Libre (which I *don't* watch).
No, it's not like the old days. But there are a variety of factors behind that and the old days aren't coming back. Meanwhile, we have the pro-wrestling we have, not the pro-wrestling we wish we had... and every company has the pro-wrestlers it has and not the pro-wrestlers it wishes it had.
It's okay not to enjoy modern stuff. But that's what we have and it is as it is for a reason. And no, it's not for everyone... but, apart from a few niche periods where it boomed (and during which there was a *ton* of cringier shit than guys just doing flips), it's never been for most people anyway.
I'm not trying to convince you that you have to enjoy it. But it gets tiresome hearing people tell me why *I* shouldn't get to enjoy it.
