Closest thing to David Lynch wrestling has gotten was the first crowdless Smackdown of the pandemic where no on knew how to pivot. The wrestlers were stopping during US commercial breaks and chit chatting not realizing other countries' feeds were still going. Production still doing the show as if there was a crowd and panning to empty seats with dead silence. Asuka screaming incoherently into the mic on commentary during an Andrade match. It was the only WWE content I've watched since 2012 and it was absolute kino.

This is when i came back to watching current stuff, it was like xfl and wwe as the last ones with fans iirc. But yeah, you nailed some of those details that made the shows so engrossing. And then they brought in the tvs and music.
