Atticus Cogar tried to make a play for Gage when he started Circle 6. Brett gave him a contract to prevent Gage from taking the Circle 6 dates. That is pretty well known.
I did not know that Gage was (allegedly) in rehab at this time, but the dates appear to line up that something was not right. Circle 6 runs its first event, Gage drops the tag titles, disappears for two months, does one random indy, disappears for five months, then finally returns in October. I don't keep great track of the indies, so I don't know what was being said at the time, but rehab would be a reasonable explanation.
I think most people believed that Gage is currently out due to an overdose. I haven't seen anyone in the know confirming this, but it seems to make the most sense. Its pretty much just a question of was this Atticus making another play, or is this a different company sticking their hand in? Just wait for Alex Colon to announce his fed in the next week or two and we'll have an answer lol

self reply, but I didn't know that Atticus left Circle 6 until I was looking at cagematch to make this post.
I don't really follow indies on social media, I just catch them when I know they're in my area, so I kind of didn't realize how fucked everything became in the last few years. Atticus is kill, RSP is kill, Alex Colon is kill, ICW:NHB is kill, Gage apparently is kill, I remember G-Raver making a return for XPW, but apparently that was it, so he's kill, and other shit too. Just watched the main event of the last Circle 6 show, holy shit, that was bad. Apparently Brian Kendrick has been reduced to appearing for XPW? This whole exercise has just been depressing. Wrestling is in the fucking mud, man.
