The bit they didn't mention in that interview and the podcast segment is the part where Batista was a completely unmotivated, careless, would rather be somewhere else dipstick who put no effort in just because OVW didn't feel like the WWE big leagues, but like a wrestling school.
You know how Finlay gave him a peptalk? "The last shot"? The WWE were cutting Batista off. His look is the only reason they kept investing in the guy.

It's one thing to not be allowed to do technical wrestling, it's another to refuse trying.
