Why would anyone expect anything else?
This project had finished when the lawsuit dropped too, so they had to re-edit the whole thing and it probably went way over budget in doing so. There's no feasible way they could have gone and brought everyone back to do more unless they opted to set up a second season instead (what they should have done)
