Yup. It's what they wanted it to be and you can't really fault them for thinking it was coming. The only issue was Cody was being entirely genuine and thought the more he played martyr and tried to book himself as an underdog despite being an EVP would get people to cheer for him like he wanted. But fans saw through it all and how phony it was and thought it was just some layered heel act kek. I saw a post on here not too long ago describe it perfectly

Yup. There were a handful of circumstances involved with him leaving, not all to be pinned on him, but like you're saying. Can only really throw your hands up at that because there isn't anything you really can do otherwise. It worked out though. Cody in AEW was never going to be something the fans would support at the time. Not the way he hell bent on doing. So everyone got their way in the end there.
