You mean 1995 and 1996. WCW was awesome in 1997 too, but so was WWF. In fact, 1997 was one of WWF's all time best years (from a viewer standpoint) and it was doing well in the ratings too, just didn't beat WCW because they had a lot of momentum.

IMO, the best years for pro wrestling (as a fan) in general were 1989 and 1997. 1996, 1998, 1986, and 2002 were great years overall too, but not quite as good as 89 and 97 across the board.

The difference is that WCW was actually good, sometimes. 1989 WCW was one of the best years for any wrestling promotion ever. And the Nitro era was good even from the very start in fall 1995 and didn't start to go downhill until the switch to 3 hours in January 1998 and even then it was still pretty good until April 1999 when the set was changed and the logo redesigned. Then it dropped into shit by the fall with Russo coming aboard to, likely, intentionally sabotage it. You really had to go out of your way to find the good stuff after that.
