She can speak English. But there's speaking and understanding English, then there's speaking English to a masterful level without an accent.

Americans are retarded, so if she has a strong accent then she is finished. Just remember that WWE didn't want to push Becky Lynch cause she had an Irish accent.

I learned Italian and can go to Italy and have long conversations, but I doubt I could do a wrestling promo in Italian.

pretty much, being able to speak a language and being able to speak it well enough to cut promo's are 2 different things, and Japs always have abit of trouble with English cause it's actually a pretty hard language to learn to a fluent level

English and japanese are on basically two opposite ends of the language spectrum and its hard for either side to properly learn and use the other. The reason its so easy for euros to become bilingual is due to a lot of overlap especially in romance languages.

this. its hard as hell and even harder to be confident speaking it at length. ohtani can speak english and has done so in rehearsed situations, but is obviously more comfortable going through interpreters when dealing with dumbassed journalists.
maki itoh's english isn't terrible but her accent is thick, and she unintelligible when she tries singing in english.
io isn't bad but took at least three years to get there.
