Punk/Drew was going to be the main event but Roman and Rock demanded Roman be given not just a match but main event on the PPV at the last minute, as Roman really fucking despises Punk for calling him out on being a worthless turd early in his career and not wanting him to be part of The Shield.
So to keep Punk happy and at his side as a "friend of my friend is my enemy" deal, Hunter's giving Punk the rest of the year off and allowing him to basically hang around NXT "helping" Shawn book NXT, as CW LOVES LOVES LOVES Punk, putting Shawn into the awkward position where he has to share the company with Punk because Hunter needs Punk as an ally lest Rock fire both Hunter AND Shawn, due to him having a huge hate boner for both men and Rock/Roman being pissy that Hunter dared end Roman's reign of terror.
Punk will be back on SD (USA Network pretty much demands him stay on the network) come the new year when Raw goes to Netflix. There will be a huge flipping of rosters on the two main shows as Netflix wants Roman and Cody and all of the big names while everyone Roman refuses to have anything to do with/is jealous of (Punk, the Wyatt Sick, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Gunther, Chad and Otis, Judgement Day) will be shuttled off to Smackdown while Coconut Community Theater: now with Cena, Rollins, the Usos, Zayn, and Owens and cuckboy Cody, will be on Raw with the women's division.
