I think it is a little worse in G-man's case because he was an indie wrestler before transitioning to ring announcer/commentary.
Charlton and Kelly had not exactly great, but very complimentary forms of presentation and delivery. It worked very well for the product they were working with. Throw in a dash of good ol Gino for color and you had a really solid three man team that could play off of each other and improvise very well.
