All he did was pick him up and RKO him. You're making it sound like he salvaged it to the point no one noticed the massive fucking botch. He did the most obvious thing he could've done. He practically just redid the spot as best he could without sending whoever the hell that is back up to the top rope. Which really isn't handling it particularly well at all

And again, it did fail and there was no "oh shit moment", but that kind of stuff happens and he did it right afterwards and that was the end of it. And anyone can see that it is a hard spot so missing it is nothing to be ashamed of.
