You're free to your opinion, but Dustin, Darby, MJF feud etc. makes me wonder how you can say it sucked. Anyway, as for being dumbfounded about how the Sammy match got 5 stars, what do you honestly think? You can probably guess that it's because the match had a shitload of spots to get Sammy over, which is why Meltzer loved it, and they didn't have a run-in or hijinx or get too overtly violent which makes Meltzer subtract points.

Andrade part was tied in with the Malakai thing in nonsensical Tony fashion. They had a perfect debut for Malakai beating Cody then fucked it all up rushing Cody back and making endless 6-8 man tags and trading wins. This is when a certain portion of viewers stopped watching because AEW started getting boring and they weren't pushing anybody new.

You're right though, he was MUCH better in 2019 - early 2020 than he was for the last year and a half he was there. These are all of his earliest programs, not counting that Shawn Spears chairman shit.

It was ridiculous, they minted Malakai as an immediate impact player and in my eyes a very worthy world title challenger with his first few appearances, and then over the next couple months Tony shunted him down the card as a non-featured background noise guy. It made no sense at all. I do kind of remember some weird PPV tag match or maybe a fatal 4 way involving Cody, Malakai, & Andrade in the fall of 2021 that made no sense. The match simply never should have been made. It wasn't what anyone wanted to see and should've been Cody simply losing again to Black instead of Cody the the heelish ""babyface"" who was getting nuclear go away heat feuding with hot new heels, and usually going over.

Pretty sure you're talking about Cody and PAC vs Andrade and Malakai at Full Gear. When you look at it in hindsight, It's funny how terrible AEW's booking has always been.

Yup that's the one. Forgot that it was fucking PAC of all people who got thrown into that mess. He probably had just returned after being out for awhile, maybe since before covid, so Tony turned The Bastard face and paired him with CAWdy to, I guess?, get him booed out of the building as well by going over the new heels from WWE. Absolutely indefensible booking. Maybe the dumb idea behind it was to try to get the crowds to stop booing Cody by putting him with a guy they'd want to cheer and forcing the issue, I don't know. Tony's autism really isn't conducive to predicting crowd reactions.
