I don't get it.
This guy is mid in nearly every aspect but AEW fans gas him up as some legendary wrestler that WWE missed out on. It puts out strong "I have a black friend" energy with how they talk about it and prop him up.
Please, AEW fans, explain this to me.

Swerve is a good wrestler and got moderately over when given the spotlight, but he isn't world champ material and his ceiling in WWE would be the exact same as in WWE only WWE probably wouldn't have given him a pity run unlike Tony did

He's probably the best black talent out there bro. Pretty much everything he does looks good and he's a good promo. He would absolutely be a main eventer in WWE so just be grateful he's not there if you dislike him so much. I was at Wembley last year and he was incredibly over. Probably only Punk and Ospreay were more over. I think it was just too obvious he was winning the title that it took away some of the hype

He is actually fantastic in-ring
Could do with more work kn his promos
I think he's genuinely one of the better Wrestlers AEW has
But yes he's overhyped by alot of AEW fans

People don't want to admit that pw, SquaredCircle, and twitter aren't accurate representations of wrestling fans irl. Like for example, if you read nothing but online discourse, you would think Britt Baker is hated by everyone, but last year at Wembley she got the biggest pop out of all the women.

Though I will say, after years of AEW not really having a "main event" style and sort of just cycling through wildly different styled world champs defending against midcarders (Jericho, Mox, Omega, MJF), I think it's funny that they finally settled on a "style" they want their main eventers to be like and it's literally just Seth Rollins. Their upper card is just like 4 versions of Seth and whichever old guy is currently healthy
