Not that he isn't proud, but my impression of him has always been that he works extremely hard, and knows that everything he's got comes from that and luck. He's repeatedly talked about how poor his initial performances were, and how it was basically just luck that the hip hop schtick worked. As an actor he mostly sticks to comedy, and isn't afraid to be the butt of the joke.
