All they can believe is what they're told, and they devote their entire lives to telling themselves "no, what I'm seeing here on TV is real, it must be".
They watch the newsreel and think it's real.
They read headlines from journalist workers and think it's all a shoot.
They watch wrestling... "It's still real to me damn it"... Sounds different now, doesn't it?
Their whole life, they watch and listen and talk in the pursuit of manifesting a lie as the truth, and telling themselves that the lie is right.
Why? Because rational logic == world. School taught them that.
But school was working them.
If they stop believing their ideology, the whole work falls apart, the business gets exposed, and it's over.
