>>16128213The WWE famously lost business in the Reign of Terror, which didn't involve Austin.
You've got to see these things from a wider perspective.
The week Austin left, business "was still good", and a few weeks later it sank because he wasn't there.
It's just like the revival from the last year, the post-Vince era. I've seen people post it every single day: "the business is hotter than ever before!"
Look at the fucking ratings and attendance figures. Look at social media.
The business isn't hotter than ever before. Youtube performance isn't as good as it was, retweets aren't as prominent and frequent as they used to be, and there's fewer people talking about wrestling than 5 years ago.
So why did attendance suddenly go up? Lockdown taught people that they don't have another time when they can go see the show live. If you can do it now, you have to do it now, there's no point in waiting.
Exactly the same thing happened after WW2. People don't want to stay at home and bide their time anymore, they wanna go out and live life while they can before someone takes it away again.
"Record business", with fewer people than ever before.
