The joke had run it's course in the first couple of months of AEW and then someone had the bright idea of pushing the little skinny pockets guy as a serious wrestler. I can't even fully blame AEW on this because there is a sizable sub-section of marks who think that beating this dead horse of a gimmick is the most entertaining shit ever and they keep buying his merch. It's a similar situation with Adam Cole. Can you really blame Tony for pushing him when he is (without any rational explanation) over with the fans?
Of course this is all pretty short sighted in the end of the day because for every mouth breather who wants to see Danhausen win the world title, there's hundreds of thousands of wrestling fans changing the channel every time they see one of Tony's pet twinks pop up on their screens.
