I work in higher education, we had one guy call to confirm his fiance's attendance to the university which he was sending her money for. He had confessed to me that he had never actually met her but was sending her money.
We had no record of anyone under the name he was giving me. Worst thing is I couldn't even tell him anything due to privacy laws. All I could tell him was that if I was him I would stop sending her money until she put him on her FERPA.
