A normie/female viewer would see Buddy as a ripped dude and maybe visually appealing or strong. They maybe could gather that he's a heel going against a local jobber, because the difference in physique is so severe.
At the same time the other dudes disgustingly orange and greasy haired so it's like beating up on a cripple instead of just a local jobber - so he has to be heel to get on this level and Buddy is the face even though he looks like a badass.
They'd watch this a minute and hear the commentary put Cole up as the face and they'd instantly feel like vomiting at the thought of cheering for him and change the channel before they'd ruin their carpet... the juxtaposition between what is observable reality and gut feeling and what AEW tries to force a reality is so jarring it doesn't pass.
