People who dislike Shota should be rooting for him to main event Wrestle Kingdom

It will cement him as an absolute flop and will force him to completely change his gimmick and do a full repackaging of his character.
It will also lead to others getting pushed over the next couple of years while he re-tools.
If you don't like Shota, this is the best outcome because there's no guarantee he ever pulls out of it.

But it's reinforced by the fact that we've all more or less cooled off on Shota, or the vast majority of us, and that we believe he's floundering with this Tanahashi-lite gimmick he's trying. I didn't mind that Shota was going for a Tanahashi esque gimmick but I felt like he never put much of a spin on it. At the very least I thought he'd aim to be a bit edgier with his Mox connections. That said I don't hate any of the young talents in NJPW, just they're all still trying to figure themselves out. So far Tsuji is doing that better than any of them but Tsuji still has ways to go too.
