Dave has autism. He will report anything that anyone tells him, and has done as much. If a wrestler tells him something then it's true. He regularly explains his point of view as "a wrestler told me thisnsonthats the truth". If a show does well then it's because the main event baby-face because that's what a main event baby-face told him 40 years ago.
When Dave was getting involved in wrestling there were style changes and guys told him that the old guys were out of touch and didn't understand the new stuff, so whenever Dave sees a small room cheering for some stupid nonsense he says it's the best thing in the world for fear of being called old and out of touch.
It's not a secret, he regularly says most of this shit verbatim, without understanding that he himself has no understanding of context. And not understanding context, or a need for context, would also explain how he can stomach aew shows.
