Some characters deaths are inevitable, that's the sad reality of a NXT fan before and after Vince through drafts going to nowhere and cuts.
On the flipside I've also found that even if they survive, being on main changes that too, the perception of them changes. I can't view the likes of Belair, Waller and Theory as NXT alumni anymore when they show up on PC, they are like a slightly out of place guest stars in a sitcom kinda of deal that aren't part of the weekly drama for anything but their own segments and their "I'm here to give a rub/make a reel for bosses to see if we can draft this greenie up already"- matches
But at the same time it is better to view it through the old adage "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened". You can't really affect the outcome anyway without buying a good chunk of WWE so why worry.
On the bright side the stars that got let go had a paid job for years, they put their best foot forward in the run and accomplished something a small percentage of applicants can: got in to WWE in the first place and actually got on their shows. And once you done that once it's less of a task get re-hired by reinventing yourself like Drew or use that former status to your advantage on getting other gigs.
