2020 was the one that killed the franchise. it was so bad they didn't even do a 2021 edition because they had to fix so much to get 2022 functional

not the anon you replied to but when was it arcadekino? genuinely curious because i usually play the ps2 smackdown games and the only new ones i played are 2k15, 2k16, 2k17 and 2k20 and all of those were full sim style

HCTP was pretty much arcadekino but they slowed down the gameplay with the grapple holds and longer recovery times
SvR 1 added pointless minigames and after that, each game added more and more bullshit while neutering the fun elements
