The literal bingo hall in Philly was packed as could be. It was the new cool underground thing, there was a working class type pride in it not being a big company entity. Newsletter reading fans monitored attendance numbers but didn't care if SMW and All Japan Women didn't have WWF numbers. If anything it made them relate to them more. WCW arena house shows with 900 attendance were laughed at, not as part of a console war thing, but because they were owned by a big corporation and had national TV.

I know Philly guys who went to shows during the ECW glory days and they would have no idea what ROH was or who Dave Meltzer is. ROH started in 2002 after the internet became big and was largely aimed at geek fans on there. GIF is from 1994 before most people were on the internet.
