McDonalds, Marvel, WWE -- it's all the same thing to him, and serves the same role: endlessly fueling an utterly purposeless machine. You shouldn't look down on him, in the same way that you wouldn't look down a dung beetle for not appreciating Shakespeare. His mind is a blank canvas, but he has no paint to paint with, so all that remains is a dark void, empty save for the echoing of chants and catchphrases. It is fruitless, and even unethical, to expect humanity from the E-Drone, because you cannot seek humanity in something that is fundamentally not human.
