CIMA's influence on the industry is unparalleled in the last 20 years. It's certainly debatable if it was a positive influence, and how much should just be attributed to Ultimo Dragon, But every indie guys 20 years ago wanted to be either CIMA or Liger, and 10 years ago they all wanted to CIMA minus their moves actually looking good or putting in any effort at the gym.
Personally I liked Dragon Gate until the 2010s, I think the big personalities offset the complete lack of psychology in the matches. But it's clearly not for everyone and was a much bigger hit amongst impressionable young wrestlers than it was with audiences, especially in the long term.
Fun fact, if you liked that taunt No Mercy where a guy puts his hands down by his dick and makes a two handed finger gun then pretends like he's cumming, that's from CIMA.
