I enjoyed it as well. The smark in me is easily swayed by Owens and he got Cody pretty good, but Cody wasn't exactly wrong that in-fiction, KO's character is perpetually aggrieved and acts as though the whole world is against him. It's a nice throughline for KO, especially when he's a hell, that it all circles back to insecurity and not really believing in himself and not expecting others to. Cody's line of "You've been here for a decade and everybody loves you, you just don't see it" was a good way of giving KO his flowers.
It is funny that a core pillar of this angle is the safest looking piledriver in the history of wrestling, but I can't exactly fault them for it since Randy probably never had to take a sitting piledriver before and he's old and juiced up now.
