The crowds were colder and the talentpool was smaller -- as well, run harder -- in Kurt's day than today, or even ten years ago. It was much harder to have matches on the level of what we see now. Autists who obsess over this lack of one extra quarter star from one guy, when his own publication actually did give Kurt the full fiver, like Alvarez did with his review of Angle/Michaels at 'Mania 21, should kill themselves and save the rest of us the trouble of their incessant spergery.
That said, I still don't understand why Edge and Mysterio vs. Angle and Benoit didn't get the full fiver. Rumble '03 had a very cold crowd and Angle/Michaels had a sickening table botch.

Kurt actually did work with Hiroshi Tanahashi, tho'. They had a great match, but you could tell they were holding back. It wasn't the epic barnburner it could've been.
