"Gimmicks" are for early 90s jobbers, no one has ever become a main eventer while working a Hockey Player or Mailman gimmick. Almost all world champions just wrestled as themselves

I know that’s one example, but some people put him on their Rushmore. It’s a pretty big ass example, too big to write off gimmicks as not main event viable.

Just because a gimmick is not as overt as a wrestling firefight or mailman or The Undertaker doesn't mean it isn't a gimmick!
I mean, take The Rock and Stone Cold for example. Hell, Rated R Superstar Edge. Randy Orton's skinny unhinged heel run where he got the nickname The Viper.
