If Lucha Underground aired on a popular channel and had a large advertising push, it would have overtaken WWE as the top wrestling promotion in terms of live viewership. Everything that people praise modern WWE for, Lucha Underground did better.

While I don't really believe it would have overtaken WWE, I do think it could have done much better than it did with wider audiences. It was waiting to find a cult fanbase that stretched beyond the circle wrestling fans. I convinced non-wrestling-fans to watch it and they loved it, though tbf these were art-school niggas I knew would get something out of it even if they never watched wrestling before.

I don't know about that but if they had Tony's money and everything else the same, they would have been actual competition yet been a clearly defined niche show where both 1 and 2 companies could have happily co-existed.
