He didn't though. He was doing great on that IC title run, then they ran into visa issues and he had to drop the belt, he came back and they booked him in that retarded shit with Kelly Kelly. Even still he was an upper midcard guy on Smackdown for a bit. Had that awesome EC showing. Then he got drafted to Raw and they did fuck all with him. Put him in random tag teams with Cody and Swagger and shit. Just stuff that went nowhere. Then he ended up on Superstars where he was doing awesome on his own which got him called back up to Smackdown where they just buried the hell out of him until they did the 3MB thing. I get he had all sorts of stuff going on backstage but not getting over was never a part of it. Hell he even got 3MB over by the time he was out

There's nothing different about the structure of his face or skull or even body though. He just filled out a ton. Chest and shoulders are about the same. The features of his face were softer when he was younger but again so was he as a whole. The beard does a lot of heavy lifting. You can see him go back and forth between it and being clean shaven during 2011, 2012, etc. Also the tan and his changing hairline. Not saying the guy has never been on anything but you can still easily see the guy on the left in the guy on the right. Age is the biggest thing

I can totally get where you're coming from though. Like if you hadn't seen him way back then before or even just if you hadn't in a while. Because for sure there is a stark difference, but watching the guy over the years those differences happened so gradually over time that you never really clocked it happening until you do look back. Like there was never one major thing where he just looked one way one week and then immediately different the next. It's an interesting thing to consider with guys who've been around for a healthy chunk of time like that

That's me. I started watching in 2014 and managed to completely miss his existence in the indies or in NXT. I stopped watching in 2018 and only came back now. He needs to be turned face, though.

Fully agree. Don't change who he's been over this past year but side him with some babyfaces and pit him against heels instead and let the crowd react how they want to. Which they were cheering for him during parts of his feud with Punk anyway
