I mean, less than five years prior to Hogan blowing up you had Superstar Billy Graham going to Vince Sr saying stuff like "those fans who brought their own shirts in support of me would probably buy them from you" and he just didn't get it. I have a feeling if everything we knew now about merch and marketing we knew back then, Hogan would be untouchable.

Stone Cold had 5, Hogan had much more. His run on top in the WWF was 10 years, and even if you don't count all of that, Hogan was also relevant in the NWO and WCW, which adds another 3-ish years.

Hogan's job was to change the entire industry. Take over all the major cities that use to have their own personalised wrestling product and run off the wrestling fans who wouldn't get on board.
