All of these guys had such undeniable starpower that they became top stars. That's how Japanese wrestling works. When Baba put over Misawa, there was no question. The fans dictated the move, same with Hashimoto's emergence.
Guys like Fujinami who don't quite have it will end up being treated as second-rate (Inoki didn't really put him over until 1989 for fuck's sake). That's how Japanese wrestling works. If a guy doesn't get to the top of the card on his own merit, he's not going to be booked like a top guy.
Do you really think Shota Umino, Tsuji, Narita, Uemura, Oiwa, etc, are worthy of being counted among those names yet? They're not ready, and no amount of "John Cena puts the young star over" is going to make them ready if they don't have IT.
