I remember the Matt Hardy stuff because it was so early in his AEW career. Like after less than one year after his opening match on Dynamite 1 you had Sammy Guevara violently murdering Matt Hardy on TV multiple times like no one had seen two wrestlers on national TV do to each other in many years. It was an absolutely bizarre time.

There’s a behind the scenes vid about that. Sammy noticed the crowd reactions he got and asked Tony if he could be heel since it seemed better at the moment based on the reactions he gets but Tony just said something along the lines of “I already have you booked this way though” and left it at that. Based on Sammy’s reaction it seemed like he wanted to say more but didn’t want to argue. I’ll see if I can find it
