Why isn't Adam trying to kill him? Obviously a needle through the cheek won't do shit. This is the problem with AEW. They just do random shit for the sake of it. If the story was that Adam had HIV, and the needle contained his poz blood, so that's why he was injecting it, it would at least make sense.
People shit on the bracelet, but at least that had a story behind it. In AEW, they just bring random shit into the ring for no reason. It's either extremely unrealistic and therefore dumb (putting bags over people's heads without them dying) or there's no reason to use it over a conventional weapon like in this case. Why do this rather than use tacks or barbed wire? In terms of psychology, what does putting a needle in the guy's cheek achieve? You don't fight with your cheek. The head is where blunt force should be applied to knock someone else. This is babby-level understanding of how a fight would work.
While a needle is not a knife, think about how someone trying to kill someone with a knife behaves. Do they try to cut someone's cheek? No, unless their objective is to disfigure rather than wound badly or kill. They either go for the body or go for the throat. A needle isn't even going to disfigure. It's something that has very little visual effect and also does not have any logical motive.
