MJF is one of the top faces of the company, JB expanded from tags to singles and accidentally created an industry wide butterfly effect using real glass, people are talking up Darby in world title contention now that he has moved away from Sting.

The only one worse than they were 5 years ago is Sammy. Which is actually something notable since JB was by far the least important member of the 4. for like 4 of the 5 years.

And I was still on board of the "it will turn good eventually" train at that time. Fuckign discord call of a segment. If they really needed to bring it up themselves, at that very moment it stopped being true.
And least of all I didn't understand why or how they roped Darby into it. It was the first time I he really gave a longer promo on the show. It was breathy but OK, whatever... WHY DID HE EVER NEED TO SAY ANYTHING IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER WHEN HE WAS COOL ENOUGH AS A NEAR MUTE TO BE A PILLAR

MJF's World Championship run exposed him as not being ready to main event. He wrestles the same match and cuts the same unoriginal promo week after week. Tony kept him strong for years and putting the belt on him truly exposed how mediocre he is. No one's given a shit about anything he's done since his return, and his "Wolf of Wrestling" gimmick was dead in the water from the start.

He could main event Ring of Honor or TNA, but he's not ready to be the face of a company. Tony hired MJF when he only had 3 years of wrestling experience based on some funny promos he cut on the indies. Then he kept him very strong for years, rarely losing or sometimes not even wrestling for months, just cutting promos. He should have spent more time on the indies honing his craft. Signing him full time to AEW that early in his career just coddled him and kept him from getting real experience, especially in the ring.

They're all in a worse spot because AEW is ice cold thanks to losing Cody & Punk. Cody leaving directly contributed to a massive WWE revival period, and losing Punk essentially ended any interest outside the fat ultrasmarks.

I mean, a lot of that probably has to do with signing Mercedes. Supposedly she refuses to appear on the same show as him, so he's often relegated to Collision or ROH now. If she never signed, Sammy would probably be in a better spot.

Darby ain't leaving, he's said it several times that he's there because he can do his "art" without interference and I can respect that, he wants to be the modern Mick Foley and to do that he needs to be in a company that will allow him to risk perma-sawdusting himself on the regular.
