In-ring ability is actually the least important thing in wrestling. You look at all the greats in the business and all the guys who were super over, outside of guys like Bret and pre neck injury Austin none of them were big workrate guys. Rock, Hogan, Randy Savage, Cena, Orton etc. all got over with their charisma and establishing a connection with the audience. Their in-ring work was just a means to an end to tell the story they were telling. That's why shitters like Ricochet, Gargano, Andrade, etc. will always have a ceiling over them despite putting on 5-star bangerinos, meanwhile guys like LA Knight and Jey Uso are more over than those guys ever will be despite not being the most talented in the ring. Having charisma and being able to talk can make up for poor workrate, good workrate can never make up for having no charisma.
