I think you sort of had to be there.
It was cutting edge stuff then. No clue how it holds up now.
The same goes for 90s WWF and WCW. Not knowing what would happen from week-to-week was what made it good.

Not true. I'm rewatching the Monday Night Wars and have been for the past few years. Nitro was good from the start and got better up until 1999. Raw was pretty bad in 95, decent in 96, and was amazing in 97 and 98. I'm only just starting in 1999 though.

ECW doesn’t really start popping off until Shane Douglas trashes the NWA belt for the new ECW title in 94. If you really want to get into the meat and potato’s you can jump to 95/96, but I can promise you the Eastern Championship Wrestling days have some hidden gem matches and personalities.

There's a really good period from around mid-96 through mid-97 then it dips awhile until after Heat Wave 98 which is one of the best wrestling PPVs of all time

Honestly you're better off looking for the monthly ECW arena shows that were then broken down to air across several weeks worth of Hardcore TV.

Cagematch gets meme'd by that's a good source for the names of those shows, VK video had most of them like 5+ years ago don't know if they're still up.

When it was good, WCW was awesome and it's a shame Vince has had 20 years to bury it and smear its good name. Sure, there was a lot of shitty parts as well but WWE leaves out the fact that it was doing the same and worse at the time as well in its retellings.

This is also probably the best way to watch ECW. Hardcore TV was just cut up incomplete matches, promos, and advertising. You can save a lot of time by just watching the PPVs. because they would explain everything anyway

You'd probably be better off just watching the more memorable stuff. The full episodes are very disjointed and don't flow together very well.
Most of the main event stuff is pretty good, while the undercard is pretty forgettable.

IMO, from the start of the Monday Night Wars in fall 1995, Nitro was better until the rebranded logo in 1999, when it started to fall apart and get chaotic. WWF was amazing in 1997, but that was mostly limited to the top of the card. Top-to-bottom, WCW was better that year too.

That was the beginning of the end. It wasn't the logo itself that killed it, of course, but that was simply a sign of the changes to come.
