The problem is that traditional Canadian/American pro-wrestling is dead. WWE/WWF, as entertaining as it was in its prime, never embodied that. WCW did, but that's gone and was never really replaced (TNA tried but it reflected the very worst parts of late-WCW). Outside WWE, the American/Canadian pro-wrestling scene moved towards indy spotfest crap.
Japanese wrestling isn't what it used to be either but what it is now is better than what American wrestling is now. It takes more from traditional American/Canadian wrestling than current American/Canadian wrestling arguably does.
I can't speak for Mexican wrestling as it's never been my thing.
