Is JR really responsible for acquiring all the successful talent during the AE and RA era? It seems like once he got usurped by Johnny Ace in Head of Talent that everything started to go downhill

He had a part in it but a lot of it had to do with others and more importantly just the nature of things back then. Vince hated him because he wouldn't kiss his ass and made decisions behind his back but John Laryngitis was 100x worse because he had no clue what he was doing

While JR really scouted good wrestlers, he also was no stranger in pushing his favorites. I remember one story when a guy got over despite JR tried to sabotage him, also when he tried to push Dr Death but it backfired against him.

Jim does have some eye for wrestling talent but like everyone else, he has had some hits and misses. Jake Hager never really got over and Steve Williams was never getting over in 1998 WWF.

Vince was also not a guy who was super serious about developing new talent. He barely developed anyone from about 2005-2015. I'm not even sure if I'd put the fault on Johnny Ace for some of the stuff with developmental as he was Vince's yes-man and fall guy.
