>>16566233i don't necessarily disagree with you BUT i'm not talking about "highest quality shoot wrestling"
think less UFC and more like Karate Combat (without all the lame crypto scam BS)
Shoot wrestling -- outside of that golden age of late 80s/early 90s when shit was being tried out for the first real time - is boring to watch. At this point, its copies of copies.
But modern UFC/MMA also sucks. Its a bunch of mentally ill wifebeater police academy burnouts with the worst body tats also gaming the sport with BJJ chokes.
Someone with money and production value needs to basically recreate a worked version of the "primitiveness" of UWF-i / 90s UFC Superfights / 2000s PRIDE
Basically putting a little bit of Lucha Underground gimmickry into... but not corny like Chikara or HUSTLE.
Think Def Jam Vendetta, WMAC Masters -- larger than life depictions of different fighting styles.
Honestly, one of the most memorable Bloodsport bouts was from the third(?) one where Nick Gage fought Karrion Kross and the story of the match was "Gage doesn't know shit about MMA but he's been in prison fights" and the finish is Kross chokes him out while Gage gives him the finger. Told a story about two very different types of fighters clashing.
Worked shoot fighting works best when its about different fighting styles - rival schools - clashing with strikes and suplexes and avoiding grappling
