>>16584988Several reasons. I'll start with the first, and most important: even with the ads, it's not bad. I *do* like WWE. It's got fun stories, sometimes decent action. I'm not hating on WWE here, I'm just pointing out that it insofar as it is loaded with ads the quality suffers.
Second: It has been around for decades and has been the biggest name in wrestling for twenty years. There are a ton of legacy viewers, some who have only watched WWE. People, especially casuals, tend towards what is familiar. They've got maybe a few hours a week they're willing to devote to wrestling. That doesn't leave a whole lot of room for looking elsewhere, especially when what they know is fine. If the ads get too heavy, they simply stop watching wrestling entirely.
Third: WWE has money and presence other companies lack. At this point it's big because it's big. It has media and self-promotion budgets that other companies lack.
I can compare it to computer operating systems. Most people use Windows. Unless you buy a Mac, your computer probably comes with it pre-installed. That doesn't mean it's better from a technical standpoint than Linux.
More popular doesn't mean better.
