I don't think there was any real partnership. They wanted Giulia and he pretended that losing her would hurt his business. So he leveraged her leaving to get Iyo Sky and a free trip to Wrestlemania. It ended up backfiring because then everyone thought there would be regular NXT/WWE stars on shows.
