it was going to be hard to make a proper workwoman's IC belt tournament if they were introducing the belts before the next draft, with the rumors of them making smackdown the workrate show and raw the storyline show, seeing if those were going to come true or not. not that many great woman's workers on raw, they needed the smackdown working girls.
some of these brackets were so weird to begin with. they put the 3 best workers in the whole thing, kairi alba and nattie, in one quarterfinal. then pulled kairi and put in iyo for some reason? i don't really know why. and that zoey/kayden/raquel match is like handpicked to be as antidimes as possible (even though it was a good match).
that's a really big problem here - none of these girls are actually over. like smackdown had tiffany, bayley, naomi, bianca and chelsea - all really popular girls. for as much as i personally like some of these raw girls, they pretty much all come out to crickets. it doesn't matter that KLR is a top 5 worker of all the WWE women if you'll be able to hear a pin drop when she wins the belt on the netflix premiere. it doesn't matter that nattie trained most of these girls if she's over a decade past her prime and gets no pop. the most popular here is probably zelina i think, and she might be bottom 3 workers in the whole thing, so how are you gonna put the workrate title on her? they had to compromise for middling-to-bad workrate and middling-to-low over-ness with these final two.
