It might have even survived Russo had WWF not been on fire, as you said. I was very much anti-WWF at the time and even I had no choice but to jump ship due to WWF just totally knocking it out of the park.
But WCW at its prime was easily the best widely popular pro-wrestling company on American soil. It's a shame that WWE has been able to do it dirty all these years. It might be nostalgia talking but I'd personally take WCW at its best even over late Attitude Era.
