I need to stop. I don't even smoke that much anymore, but I'm using it to numb myself when I should be pushing myself physically and dealing with my emotions. It's just too easy to smoke and eat garbage. Especially during the winter when I suffer from SAD. Sometimes I only smoke once a week but then I start planning my next smoke session and don't feel any real joy until that day comes

My longest stretch of nightly smoking (sometimes all day when I had free time) was about 6 years before I stopped. Been smoking for about 15 years though. I relate to what you're saying, I stopped because it became numbing despite the fact that every time I smoked with the hope it would give me the insight and drive I used to get. Instead of giving into my base desires though I would just smoke more and try to distract myself from panic attacks waiting for something good to happen until I got bored, tired, dissapointed and went to bed.
